Barbecue Party Peanuts Appetizer

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c Water
  • 2 tbs Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 tbs Barbecue Sauce divided
  • 1 lb Salted Roasted Peanuts
  • 2 tbs Butter melted
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper or Creole Seasoning
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  • Combine the water, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tablespoon of barbecue sauce in a sauce pan; bring to a simmer.
  • Remove the sauce pan from the heat and add the peanuts, stir to coat, allow to stand for 30 minutes.
  • Drain off the liquid and spread on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Bake in a 250°F oven for 1 hour.
  • Add the roasted nuts to a mixing bowl.
  • Combine melted butter with the remaining barbecue sauce then add it to the mixing bowl and toss to combine with the nuts.
  • Season with garlic powder, a pinch of salt and cayenne (or Creole seasoning) then toss to combine.
  • Spread the nuts on a paper towel lined baking sheet to drain. Let stand about 15 minutes then transfer to a serving dish.
