Blackberry Grits

Sweet and savory blackberry grits are perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 4 c Cooked Grits
  • 6 oz Fresh Blackberries
  • 1/4 c Water
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbs Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  • Cook grits according to package directions to yield four cups of cooked grits.
  • While the grits are cooking you'll have plenty of time to prepare the stewed blackberries.
  • Heat a small sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Add the fresh blackberries and sugar.
  • Add the water to a liquid measuring cup and add the cornstarch. Mix to combine into a slurry mixture.
  • Add the slurry mixture to the sauce pan.
  • Cook 3-4 minutes. That's plenty of time to stew the berries. Remove from heat and reserve until ready to serve.
  • Add cooked grits to serving bowls and top with some of the stewed blackberries.
