Buttermilk Pie
Buttermilk pie is a custard like pie and and old fashioned favorite dessert.

- 1/2 c Butter melted
- 1.5 c Granulated Sugar
- 3 Large Eggs room temperature
- 3 tbs All Purpose Flour heaping tablespoons
- 1 tbs Lemon Zest
- 3 tbs Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 c Buttermilk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of Nutmeg
- Deep Dish Pie Shell I used store bought
Preheat oven to 350℉
Add sugar and melted butter to a medium mixing bowl and combine with a hand mixer. Add eggs and mix until creamy.
Add flour and mix to incorporate.
Add lemon zest, lemon juice, buttermilk, vanilla, and salt - mix to combine.
Add filling to pie shell.
If you like, brush the edges of the crust with egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with a teaspoon of water or milk).
Sprinkle the top of the pie with a pinch of fresh ground nutmeg.
Bake 35-45 minutes until set.
Allow to cool completely before serving, at least 1 hour. Pie is best served at room temperature.
