Old Fashioned Sweet Potato Pie

Classic Southern Sweet Potato Pie, a traditional holiday dessert

Ingredients

  • 2 c Cooked Mashed Sweet Potatoes
  • 1.25 c Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 c Butter melted
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1 c Evaporated Milk
  • 9 " Frozen Pie Shell

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • In a mixing bowl combine the sweet potatoes, sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and ginger. Mix together with a hand mixer until well combined.
  • Next, add the evaporated milk and mix to combine.
  • Add the pie filling mixture to the pie crust and place into the oven.
  • Bake 45 minutes or until done. Center of the pie should be set when done.
  • Allow to cool before serving. Top with whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. Sweet potato pie can be made a few days in advance of a holiday meal and refrigerated until needed.
