Creamy Collard Green Dip Recipe

Creamy Collard Dip is a delicious appetizer for gatherings. Serve with chips or toasted bread points.

We ate plenty of collard greens for luck in the new year. It is a Southern tradition. After feasting on the beloved winter greens for a couple of days, I always find myself with leftovers.

Put those leftovers to good use by freezing them for later use. The leftover greens can be used for another meal or as an ingredient in delicious appetizers, such as Hot Collard & Artichoke Dip or this Creamy Collard Dip.

Creamy Collard Dip

Guests will love this rich and creamy dip! A bread bowl is a fun way to serve alongside crackers, toast points, chips or raw veggies for dipping. It will disappear right before your eyes.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Leftover Cooked Collard Greens
  • Sour Cream
  • Mayonnaise
  • 1 Packet of Knorr Vegetable Recipe Mix
  • Cracked Black Pepper
  • Bread Bowl, for serving (optional)
  • Chips, Toast Points, Crackers, Raw Veggies (options for serving)
  • Chopped Scallions, for garnish (optional)

If you plan to serve this dip in a bread bowl, begin by cutting off the top of the bread loaf and hollowing out the inside. I picked up an Italian loaf at the grocery store and found the day old loaf that was reduced in price.

Hollow out a bread bowl

Thaw your leftover collard greens, drain and squeeze out excess moisture.

Finely chop the collard greens.

Chopped collard greens

In a mixing bowl combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, Knorr vegetable mix and cracked black pepper.

Add the collard greens and combine with the rest of the ingredients.

Add the dip mixture to the prepared bread bowl or serving dish. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

This dip recipe is easy and versatile. I kept things simple by using what I had on hand in my pantry. You can easily dress this up by adding diced red pepper, sautéed diced onion or bacon. If you don’t have leftover collard greens, frozen or canned may be used.
