Ground Beef Casserole is a meal that the entire family will love. This ground beef casserole with pasta is comparable to a homemade hamburger helper dish, but so much better…..and healthier. You’ll be going back for a second serving.
A dish with noodles and cheese is always a winner in my book. The leftovers of this ground beef casserole are just as tasty the next day.
I’m also going to share an alternate version so you can switch things up.
Ingredients
- 1.5 – 2 lbs Ground Beef
- 1 Onion, diced
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Ground Chili Powder
- 1.5 tsp Ground Garlic Powder
- 10.5 oz Cheddar Cheese Soup
- 16 oz Elbow Macaroni
- 2/3 c Whole Milk
- 8 oz Shredded Cheese (I used a cheddar/jack mix)
Preheat oven to 350°F
Step 1: Brown ground beef in a skillet with the diced onion. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder and garlic powder.
Step 2: While the ground beef mixture is cooking, prepare the pasta. Add 4 quarts of water to a pot with half a teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil, add the elbow macaroni and cook for 10 minutes. Drain well.
Step 3: Next add the condensed cheddar cheese soup to the hamburger mixture. Add milk and stir to combine. Next, add the cooked macaroni pasta and stir to combine everything.
Step 4: Layer the mixture in a casserole dish and add some of the shredded cheese between layers, topping with the remaining cheese. Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Alternate Versions: Transform this into Mexican Ground Beef Casserole by adding one packet of taco seasoning in step 1. This recipe can also be made entirely on the stove top if you’d rather not have it as a casserole. Just stir the shredded cheese into the skillet mixture until melted and serve.
The ground beef casserole can be served as the meal itself or along with a few side dishes, such as a garden salad and cooked corn.
A basic recipe with delicious ingredients that is perfect for any weeknight meal! Let’s dig in y’all!
