In this post I am sharing how to make Easy Frozen Yogurt Fruit Pops.
Hey y’all! It’s summer. It’s hot. We all want a cool treat now and again. Why not make it a healthy frozen popsicle?
At first glance seeing popsicles, you may have thought…this would be great for kids. You’re right, it would be! These fruit and yogurt frozen pops are perfect for toddlers, bigger kids, and adults.
Kids weren’t my first thought in making these treats though. Adults were. Specifically, adults who fall into that category labeled “middle age” such as myself who are looking to incorporate some healthier food into their menu plans for whatever reason.
My personal reason is that last year during a routine visit to the doctor, he informed me that I was pre-diabetic. Diabetes is a terrible disease and one that I’ve always feared because my grandmother had it.
Luckily for me I wasn’t there yet and it is something that I can control with my weight and the food that I eat. These frozen yogurt popsicles are low in sugar so they are an ideal treat for myself and the hubby to enjoy….y’all too.
Healthy Grass Fed Yogurt and Fruit Popsicles
I love that you can really use whatever yogurt flavors you might enjoy to make these frozen pops.
I am going to recommend using a plain or vanilla grass fed all natural yogurt like I have though. It’s lower in sugar for one thing and healthier with the probiotics we want in our yogurt products.
Is grass fed yogurt better? Pasture raised cows who eat grass produce a yogurt that is also higher in omega-3 fats that are good for you.
Homemade Fruit and Frozen Yogurt Pops
Does freezing the yogurt kill probiotics? Some, but not a significant amount. The probiotic cultures go into a dormant state when frozen. Once warmed inside your belly they perk back up.
How long does it take to freeze frozen yogurt? It will take at least six hours for these frozen yogurt popsicles to fully set up. Best bet is to leave them overnight and enjoy the next day.
Red, White and Blue Vanilla Yogurt Popsicles
Y’all, I promise you it wasn’t a planned thing but after I made these and was garnishing to show that there were strawberries and blueberries in the pops, I realized they’re also red, white and blue…perfect for the 4th of July coming up next week. HA!
I also wanted to add that since the grass fed yogurts are low in sugar, you can add honey or agave if you would like a bit more sweetness for your popsicles.
I’ve been using agave in my morning coffee and it is wonderful.
You may have to look really carefully over the yogurt varieties to find grass fed organic in your local stores. My local grocery store has just the one variety and they’re not that easy to find…sorta hidden among all of the high sugary varieties.
If they don’t carry it, ask them to order it for you. Most grocers are happy to do that for you.
Easy Yogurt Popsicles
The particular mold that I have makes four popsicles so depending on the type you have you can adjust the ingredients easily to suit the number needed.
