Fig Prosciutto Mozzarella Flatbread

In this post I am sharing how easy it is to make a fresh Fig, Prosciutto and Mozzarella Flatbread

Y’all….can I just say how grateful I am for good neighbors? We have some truly wonderful neighbors and they’re so good to us.

It is not unusual for us to be gifted pecans, homemade goods, fresh pears and fresh figs from our neighbors. I just love it! That is how life is in a small Southern town….the way I grew up….and it brings me a lot of happiness.

In turn, I am happy to gift to them baked goods or share other goodies that I’ve cooked up using the food gifts I’ve received. It’s a win, win relationship.

Fig and Prosciutto Pizza on Naan

Naan flatbread pizza with fresh figs, prosciutto and mozzarella cheese. This easy recipe bakes in just a few minutes and can be made in the oven or on the grill.

Okay, let’s talk a little bit about figs. Figs were a staple fruit of summer when I was growing up. Just like pecan trees, everyone had a fig tree.

A fig tree is on my list of things to plant in our yard because I don’t have one but many of my neighbors do.

What are the benefits of eating figs and are they good for you? Figs are highly nutritious. They’re rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Are figs a superfood? Just like kale, figs are considered a super food….and one that tastes a lot better in my opinion.

Fresh Fig Pizza

Can you eat figs raw? Yes! Figs can be eaten raw straight off of the tree. Figs are also delicious dried or cooked.

Can you freeze fresh figs? Yes, fresh figs can be frozen. I wash then dry  the figs. Next, lay them out on a sheet pan then place into a freezer for about two hours.

Once the figs are semi frozen, I place them in batches, into food saver bags and seal. Place them back into the freezer until ready to thaw and use.
