If you enjoy delicious chicken for grilling then you’ll love this easy dry rub recipe. With just a few ingredients from your spice cabinet, you can put together a tasty rub recipe that is delicious on chicken or pork.

A seasoning rub is a great way to add flavor to chicken before grilling. The cooked chicken can be finished with a wonderful sauce for an amazing meal!

Preparing this homemade dry rub seasoning blend is as easy as mixing all of the spices together and place in an airtight container to store and use as needed.

 

Kristi’s Dry Rub for Chicken

Here’s what you’ll need:
 
  • Paprika
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Black Pepper
  • Kosher Salt
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Cumin
  • Oregano
  • Dried Thyme
To use the chicken rub: Sprinkle the dry rub all over chicken, rubbing it into the skin and under the skin. Refrigerate rubbed chicken at least 3 hours to overnight prior to cooking.

Homemade dry rub seasoning blend for chicken or pork.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c Paprika
  • 1 Tbs Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 Tbs Black Pepper
  • 3 Tbs Kosher Salt
  • 2 Tbs Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbs Onion Powder
  • 1 Tbs Cumin
  • 1 Tbs Dried Oregano
  • 1 Tbs Dried Thyme

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl then transfer to an air tight storage container until ready to use.

When stored properly this poultry seasoning rub will last up to a year. I like that it makes a smaller batch and can be customized with the seasonings that you enjoy.

If you like more heat, then add more cayenne. If you prefer less “smokey” flavor,  just omit the cumin.
