  • 2 tbs Butter
  • Salt, Cracked Black Pepper, & Onion Powder
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon fat and cooking oil.
Slice smoked sausage and add to skillet.
Slice Cabbage and set aside.
Cook sliced sausage until it begins to brown, 5-10 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

Add smoked sausage back to the skillet with the cabbage and stir to combine.

I have been making this dinner for years, I call it Grandpa's sausage and cabbage. And yes, I was brought up on bacon and keep bacon grease in my refer. I also fry potatoes with bacon and onion and serve it with this dinner along with applesauce…Wonderful dinner and so down home…

Looks like a delicious meal for fall! I do like to cook with bacon grease as well. I don't have a jar in the fridge (that's a thought though) but whenever I cook bacon, I always use the grease to make something else as well!

Thank you Michelle! Typically cooler months I use more bacon grease for those rich and savory meals but always keep it on hand. That's something I carried over seeing it in the fridge growing up 😉
