Ground Beef Stroganoff is a very popular recipe. It’s just plain delicious when served over hot buttered noodles! This versatile recipe also works well for traditional beef stroganoff. You’ll have a delicious homemade meal on the table in less than 30 minutes.
Beef Stroganoff originated in Russia in the late 1800’s. Who knew that such a popular dish has been around so long?
Chances are that you already have all of the ingredients you need to create this creamy comfort food classic.
Ground Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Ground Beef (can use cubed beef chunks if preferred for a traditional style)
- Vegetable Oil
- Sliced Mushrooms
- Onion
- A Clove of Garlic
- Salt and Ground Black Pepper, to taste
- Worcestershire Sauce
- All Purpose Flour
- Beef Bone Broth or Stock
- Sour Cream
- Egg Noodles
- Softened Butter, to toss with noodles
Step 1: It will take the noodles and beef mixture around the same time to cook. The beef mixture will probably finish first, so go ahead and get the water going to cook those noodles. Be sure to add a dash of salt to the pasta water. Bring the water to a boil and cook the noodles for 10 minutes, then drain well. Toss the noodles with softened butter.
Step 2: Add the ground beef to a skillet and break apart. Next add the vegetable oil, mushrooms, diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Stir to combine and saute over medium heat until the meat has cooked through.
Step 3: Next, add the flour to the meat mixture and stir to combine. Cook the meat mixture stirring for another 2 minutes.
Step 4: Next, add the beef stock to the meat mixture and stir until thickened to a gravy like consistency. Remove the meat mixture from the heat and stir in sour cream. Serve over hot buttered egg noodles.
Cooks Note: Use homemade beef bone broth to add extra richness in flavor to the dish.
