In this post I am sharing how to prepare Oven Roasted Blackened Shrimp.
You’ll enjoy these light seasoned shrimp in just ten minutes making it great for quick weeknight meals. Did I mention that you only need two ingredients? Seriously, this is one of the easiest ways to cook shrimp.
My husband used to not really care for shrimp but now he loves them. That makes me happy because we can enjoy shrimp more often. Shrimp and lobster are two of my favorite foods.
One of the keys for buying shrimp or seafood, unless you’re getting frozen, is to pick nice fresh pieces from the seafood counter. Fresh seafood does not have a smell.
I once made the mistake of grabbing one of the packages that the seafood department had made up for “grab and go”. Oh my word! Let me tell you…I opened that package and it reeked. I threw the entire thing out.
I’ll choose my own from now on, thank you, and wait for them to wrap it up fresh. Carolina wild caught shrimp are some of my favorite because you can’t get fresher than what is harvested closest.
10 Minute Blackened Shrimp
To prep my shrimp, I simply remove the shells and de-vein them. There are tools that you can buy specifically for de-veining. I just use a knife though and make a slit and remove it easily.
Be sure to save your shrimp shells too! Why? Well they are wonderful for making stock, fertilizing plants or can be steamed and fed to chickens. My chickens go nuts over steamed shrimp shells.
Easy Roasted Shrimp
You may have guessed at this point what the two ingredients are that you’ll need to make these oven roasted blackened shrimp.
All that you need are the shrimp and a good blackened seasoning. I know some folks make their own blackening seasoning but unless you have a lot of bulk spices, it’s more cost effective to just buy it.
The blackened shrimp can be served as your main course or used in pasta or added to stir fry meals. You’ll have a delicious home cooked meal on the table quick, no matter how you serve them.
All of the details for preparing these super easy blacked shrimp are in the printable recipe card below.
