Ingredients for preparing an applesauce congealed salad: jar of applesauce, strawberry gelatin and 7UP

Here’s what you’ll need to make this easy applesauce jello salad with 7up:

  • Apple Sauce
  • Strawberry Gelatin
  • 7UP

How to prepare Applesauce Salad

Begin by adding the apple sauce to a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.

Next, add the strawberry gelatin to the hot applesauce and stir to combine.

Fizzy 7UP Applesauce Salad

Then, add the 7up carbonated beverage and stir to combine. If you’ve made Jell-O before then you see how the 7up is taking the place of the cold water in making this gelatin salad.

Then into the Fridge to Chill

I’ve tried this applesauce salad in a mold before and it just doesn’t work well for me. It doesn’t set up quite like plain gelatin with the applesauce.

I recommend transferring the applesauce jello to a pretty bowl, or dish you like. I’m using my great-grandmother’s crystal bowl here.

Refrigerate the applesauce salad until firm and set, four to six hours. I left mine in the fridge overnight.

Serve your applesauce salad with whipped cream, fresh strawberries, or all on its own for a wonderful sweet treat.

Old fashioned applesauce salad gelatin dessert is perfect with family meals or your holiday Thanksgiving dinner. Since, we’re calling it a salad (wink), you could even serve it up as a side and nobody would even question it.

I had some fun with this one! I made it while my husband was not home, and when I served it to him I made him guess the ingredients! He did NOT guess them, but we sure enjoyed the salad! I grew up in Texas, but this was a new one for me. Thanks, Julia! We loved it! Now we're anxious to make it and have others try to guess the ingredients! :)
