Pineapple Pecan Cream Cheese Spread

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Easy Pineapple Cheese Ball Recipe:

  • Cream Cheese – softened.
  • Crushed Pineapple – drained.
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese – grated.
  • Green Bell Pepper – finely diced. If your heart fancies red bell pepper instead of green pepper then use red.
  • Red Onion – finely diced, or sliced green onions if preferred.
  • Seasoned Salt (I used Lawry’s)
  • Chopped Pecans be sure to reserve a small bit of the crunchy pecans for garnish.

Optional for serving: a fresh pineapple hollowed out. It’s pretty, but you could simply serve this shaped into a ball form on a serving platter.

Classic Party Appetizer Pineapple Cheese Ball

Y’all, this recipe is so simple for an easy appetizer. There are really just two important things to remember and are must do for a good cheese ball.

  • First, take the cream cheese out of the refrigerator at least an hour before prep so that it can soften to room temperature.
  • Secondly, drain the pineapple very, very well. Empty the can of crushed pineapple into a mesh strainer that has been placed over a bowl and drain of all of the pineapple juice. You can discard the juice, drink it, or use it for something else.

Putting it all Together

Then use a hand mixer to combine everything together.

If you’re making this ahead of time, store the savory cheese ball in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Remove it from the fridge and allow the come to room temperature before serving to make it easier to spread.

For immediate serving, transfer the pineapple cream cheese mixture to a hollowed pineapple half, serving bowl, or shaped into a ball on a platter.

Garnish the pineapple cheese ball spread with the reserved chopped pecans, if desired, and enjoy!

I made this exactly as directed and I feel like there is way too much seasoning salt. It is overpowering and I don't taste the pineapple much. I have had a cheeseball like this before and it was amazing. I was hoping this was the same. It is good, just very salty.

Hi Amber, This is an old recipe the way it has been made for many decades. Since taste buds vary, if the seasoning is a bit much for your pallet, try the recipe using half and see if that suits better. Enjoy. Thanks for stopping by! ~Julia

I’m tired of making the usual cheese ball so while looking for a new recipe to take when we get together to play cards with our friends, I found this one but was very leary of making it as the ingredients sound a little weird. Anyways… You must make this dip/cheeseball!!! It is absolutely delicious! My friends loved it!
