  • Sprigs of Rosemary
  • 1 tsp Thyme, minced

Easy Roasted Chicken

How to roast a chicken in a baking bag

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.Add the diced rosemary and thyme to the softened butter, along with 1/4 tsp of paprika, mix to combine. Make sure your butter is good and soft. It’s going to make rubbing it on the chicken a lot easier.

Be sure to remove any of the giblets inside the chicken if there are any (liver, gizzard, etc). Spread the herb butter all over the whole chicken.

Preparing a chicken to roast

Sprinkle some salt, cracked black pepper, and paprika over the chicken. Y’all, paprika is my secret to always having a beautiful color on chicken and pork. Add fresh sprigs of rosemary and thyme inside the cavity of the chicken. You can add other aromatics along with the herbs inside the cavity, such as a halved lemon or quartered onion if desired.

Seasoning a whole chicken to roast in the oven

Place the chicken inside of an oven ready roasting bag. Close the bag with the tie that comes with it. Place into a roasting pan.

Using plastic roasting bags

Place the chicken into the preheated oven. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

When the cooking time is complete. Remove the chicken from the oven and let rest for 15 minutes before carving.

If you’re careful opening the bag and removing the chicken, you’ll have easy clean up of your roasting pan.
